GCV Family

Jeff’s Corner 8-30-17 Hello! Many times you have heard me extol the virtues of the GCV staff and our ability to work together in pressure-packed situations. In every sense of the phrase, as timeworn as it sometimes sounds, our staff is a family. We argue a bunch, but our commitment…

2016 Viognier

Jeff’s Corner 8-16-17 Hola Last Friday morning I went into the barrel room to set up, and was greeted by the most intriguing wine aroma I have ever smelled.  The air was rich with layers of yeast, honey, wildflowers, and vanilla; all from 12 barrels of Viognier undergoing fermentation. What…

2015 Petite Sirah

Jeff’s Corner 8-11-17 Petite Sirah is my very favorite red grape.  I have to say this again, a little louder, Petite Sirah is my very favorite red grape!   I like it because it is dark, brooding, mysterious, moody, morose, and extremely  romantic.  Petite Sirah is like Hamlet, only darker and…

Wine Bottles

Jeff’s Corner 7-13-17 Howdy and Howdy After hours last Saturday, I was hanging out with some cronies from work enjoying a glass of wine when the conversation turned to wine bottles, specifically why they have different shapes and colors.  I snidely told them they should read Jeff’s Corner, but then…
