Aglianico + Montepulciano: Estate Vines

Jeff’s Corner Howdy, Howdy, and Hola Well, I’m 63 today, and one thing is for sure; I’ve never been this old on my birthday before. I suppose on one level I can celebrate having turned 21 three times. Geezo, I need to get to my wine rack while I still…

Sweet Wine Chemistry + An Italian Granita Recipe

Jeff’s Corner In Jeff’s Corner 8-25-15 I mentioned how much I enjoyed writing tasting notes for our new vintages because it forced me to take a closer look at our GCV sweet wines. Well, since then I’ve been sneaking around with our 2014 Riesling; meaning it’s been sneaking into my…

The Great Rose’ Off!

Jeff’s Corner  Once again, Howdy! Last week, I had a really good time tasting and writing about our two brand new dry roses, the Ramato and Rose of Sangiovese. (I especially enjoyed the tasting part.) One very sad thing I forgot to mention, however, is that next year we’ll only…

The Ol’ Oak Debate

Jeff’s Corner Howdy Howdy Howdy Even though my eyeballs aren’t screwed tight enough right now, it sure smells like spring outside. How refreshing! I had cataract sugary yesterday, and my left eye, literally, doesn’t know what my right eye is doing. My keyboard is a dizzy blur. So, here’s a…

2014 Petite Sirah

Jeff’s Corner Wow, it’s only been a month since we talked about the 2013 Petite Sirah and here we are taking a look at the super brand new 2014 Petite. Production of the ’13 was small, and being a great wine we sold through it really fast. The ’14 Petite…

2015 Cuvee Blanc

Jeff’s Corner Once again, it’s time to say howdy! Since the start of the year, we’ve been bottling our new 2015 white and sweet wines, and our 2014 reds. This means lots of new releases are right around the corner, and I’m going to be abused and overworked by having…

Corked

Hello, hello, and here we go… Last week, I had a guest on one of my tours ask me about a pricey wine they once opened that smelled like a wet dog that had been lost for a week or two. What they experienced was a wine suffering from “cork…

Heath Vineyards Owner’s Club Update

We are fast approaching the inaugural Heath Vineyards Owner’s Club shipment in November! The Sauvignon Blanc, Captivating, is now in the bottle and is already quite amazing with initial aromas of white peach that develop into perfectly ripened pear with floral notes. This is much more like a white Bordeaux than a…
