Invention Vineyards Working Vineyard and Winery

Invention Vineyards is an expansive working vineyard and production winery, spanning 35 acres of vines, making it one of the largest estates in the Texas Hill Country AVA. This hidden gem is just five minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. Its 25,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility is home to Heath Sparkling Wines’ méthode champenoise production, complete with tirage line, riddling quads, and full disgorgement.

Invention Estate Vineyards

11 Blocks, 7 Varietals, 35 acres of vines

The land that is now Invention Vineyards began as an 1800s flour mill, once central to Fredericksburg’s agricultural economy. It later shifted into ranchland until its soils and setting, the terroir, were recognized as ideal for grape growing.

In the mid-2010s, vineyard planting began with the vision of creating a premier estate. Careful investment transformed the 35+ acre property into one of the largest vineyards in the Texas Hill Country AVA, with blocks strategically planted with grape varietals best suited to the region’s climate and resilient terroir.

The vineyard grows premium varietals. Grape varieties grown on the estate include Albariño, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Ruby Red, and Tempranillo. Our winemakers harvest grapes annually for estate bottling and blending.

Heath Family Brand Wineries

Heath Family Brands includes Grape Creek Vineyards, Heath Sparkling Wines, Invention Vineyards and K Estate each featuring an estate vineyard and winery with a total of six tasting room locations across the Texas Hill Country creating a premier multi-estate portfolio of terroir driven wines.

Our Winemaker

Jason Englert

Jason has been with Grape Creek Vineyards since 2004, helping the wine program grow from 2,500 cases to 60,000+ cases produced annually across all Heath Family Brands which include K Estate, Grape Creek Vineyards, Heath Sparkling Wines, Invention Vineyards, Heath Vineyards and Jenblossom Cellars

Jason’s focus is making wines from the highest quality selection of grapes and letting developing wines create their own path to the bottle. Jason and his team utilize both advanced and traditional wine-making practices. Invention Vineyards premium wines are focused on innovative blending of estate and Texas High Plains fruit with modern winemaking techniques. There is a respect for traditional styles such as French Right Bank or Left Bank blends, while creating a uniquely Texan flavor profile and approach.

Jason Englert is the most decorated winemaker in Texas, having achieved more than 260, 90+ scores and over 2,000 medals from the most prestigious wine competitions in the country.

Brian & Jennifer Heath

Brian and Jennifer Heath purchased Grape Creek Vineyards, the flagship for Heath Family Brands, in 2006. With the addition of stunning Tuscan-inspired patios overlooking the vineyards and a vineyard dining experience at Stout’s Signature at Grape Creek, this quickly became a premier Texas wine destination. Since, they have expanded to four premier winery and vineyard estates and two upscale, urban tasting rooms in downtown Fredericksburg and Georgetown, Texas.
